Dr.-Ing. Andreas Werner, 39, has been appointed “Chief Technology Officer” (CTO) as well as “Head of Technology Center (TC)” at Swisslog, effective January 1, 2022. Werner, who holds a degree in electrical engineering and a PhD in mechanical engineering and computer science, is based at the Dortmund site, Swisslog’s center of excellence for robotics and new technologies. He strengthens the management team in one of the world’s leading companies in automated intralogistics technologies, which is focusing primarily on the further expansion of data-driven solutions. “I’m looking forward to my new role at Swisslog,” says Werner, who plans to make a significant contribution to the Swiss group’s growth success by leveraging his background in intralogistics, mobile robotics, software and digitalization: “Working together with my powerful team is the greatest incentive for me.”
A wealth of experience in intralogistics, robotics, software and digitization
Andreas Werner comes from the BEUMER Group, where he was most recently “Divisional Director Innovation” and “Interim Divisional Director Software Solutions”, responsible for the expansion of new development sites, standardization and modularization, and project implementation for software. With his technical know-how and many years of leadership experience, Andreas Werner drove the development and optimization of complex digital structures. He gained international experience primarily in Asia, Scandinavia and Southern Europe. Before joining BEUMER, Andreas Werner worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics, shaping the fields of the Internet of Things and swarm robotics in intralogistics in various roles.
“We are very pleased to welcome Andreas Werner on board, a colleague who is experienced both in terms of modern and sophisticated automation as well as international projects,” said Antonio Trioschi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Swisslog AG, “Together we want to sustainably strengthen and expand Swisslog’s global market position as an innovator in software, robotics and digitalization.”
The new CTO is following Swisslog’s strategy, in place for several years, of consistently focusing on holistic robot and data-based intralogistics solutions. Above all, the Group’s own mechatronic products, software solutions and third-party technologies round off the technology portfolio. The global network of integration partners completes the offering, which is used and valued by customers in more than 50 countries.
